Working in conjunction with the Vice President of Finance and the President of the Americas, the Director of Demand Planning and Inventory Management will be responsible for managing all Demand Planning, Forecasting and Inventory Management functions for North America. The Director’s primary responsibility is to plan and manage inventory in order to maximize fill rate while minimizing days of supply. Developing forecasts and continually increasing forecast accuracy is also a key function of the position. The Director is responsible for facilitating a smooth process to develop forecasts and manage inventory with Sales, PM, and Purchasing. The Director will supervise the Demand Planning team who is responsible for account level part forecasts in conjunction with sales.

The Director will also manage the Product Code Planning team who is responsible for “buy quantities” and inventory management at the product code and part level. The Director is ultimately responsible for managing to the North America metrics of Sales, Op Profit, Fill Rate, and Days of Supply along with Forecast accuracy. The training and development of the Planning Teams is a crucial responsibility of the Director position. Demand Planning and Inventory Management Teams of eighteen is as follows:

One Demand Planning Manager, 7 Demand Planners, 1 Supply Planning Manager, 1 Commercial Supply and Demand Planning Manager; 7 Supply Planners, Analysts, along with one System Administrator and 1 Buyer.

Responsibilties:

  • Lead the cross-functional business unit collaborative forecasting and inventory management process. Facilitate regular meetings between the Planning and Inventory Management teams with Sales, Purchasing and PM to review forecasts and forecast accuracy, product roll outs and transitions, channel sales and inventory, inventory levels versus budget, fill rate, days of supply, and excess inventory,
  • Organize the creation of top-level reports by the Planning team. Facilitate the monthly Senior Management Forecasting and Inventory management meeting focusing on cross-functional communication, direction setting, risk management, and conflict resolution. Supervise the follow-through of actions identified from the meetings and discussions.
  • Successfully and accurately administer all Oracle, I2, MRP, and Excel based Planning systems and processes, from forecast upload to generation of MRP report and inventory reporting.
  • Develop a smooth process flow of activities for the Planning department, and establish systems to support those processes. Lead the process for identifying, developing, and implementing advanced planning methods, systems, and tools, in order to improve forecast accuracy and inventory management.

Qualificiations:

The successful candidate will be a proven executive-level manager with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus. He or she will possess a professional demeanor that gains the respect and confidence of employees at all levels. In addition, the ideal candidate should possess:

  • H7-10 years’ experience in a Demand Planning and Inventory Management leadership role, including experience hiring, managing, and evaluating employees
  • Previous experience with MRP principles, inventory management and demand planning software required. System implementation experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional computer literacy including proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
